Welcome to G. Charles Bakery. I'm Gary Clark, owner and journeyman baker at our Aberdeen, NC location. My story is unique ... just like I hope you'll find our baked breads, desserts and specialty items.
I started my baking journey in the U.S. Navy serving 4 years of active duty making the finest “Navy Chow” anywhere. After my Honorable Discharge, I went to work for a close friend who was creating bakeries inside his stores to bring his family’s grocery business to the next level. It was there that the dream of operating my own bakery was born. I spent each day learning the art of business and baking from the sons and daughter of immigrants from the Old World.
In 2011, with my bakery dream in tow, I found my way to the Sandhills of North Carolina where I managed the Fresh Foods department in a local grocery chain. The bakery dream continued to loom larger and larger until I just had to do it, finally opening the doors to G. Charles Bakery in April, 2016.
I appreciate your support, and I want to cater to my customers' wants and desires. So, please, stop by or contact me and let me know how I can better serve the men, women and children in the Sandhills areas of Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Whispering Pines and Pinehurst.
